The University of Erlangen-Nürnberg is one of Germany’s leading institutions in research concerning religions and particularly Islam in a legal context. Besides the Centre for Area Studies, of which Prof. Rohe chairs the Middle East and Islam section, there is intense research on the Muslim world and Islam in Europe in the fields of law, political sciences, economics, religious studies and Islamic studies. The newly established Erlangen Centre for Islam and the Law in Europe will be able to play a core role in further communication and dissemination of research results and in formulating, policy advice.
